What helps in the description
- What kind of tree, if you know. A pine, a pear and a post oak each raise different questions, and the dying trees page says why.
- About how tall it is. Compared with your roofline is fine.
- How wide the trunk is, straight across. Guess if you have to.
- Whether any wire runs through or near it, and whether that wire goes from pole to pole or from a pole to your house. The power lines page explains the difference.
- What else it could land on: a roof, a fence, a neighbor's yard, the street.
- Its state today: dead, leaning, split, hung up in another tree, or already on the ground.
- Whether you want the stump gone and the wood hauled off.
- How a truck would get to it, and the width of any gate.
- Your general area, like a neighborhood or nearest main road.
Please leave your street address out of that box. The company that takes the job can get it from you.
Not for emergencies
This is not an emergency service. If a tree is on a power line or a house, or someone is hurt, call 911 or the line company first. The tree down page lists who to call.
